Product family: viscosity-graded paving bitumen

Governing specification: IS 73:2013, current amendment and the purchaser's project specification

Classification: VG-40 viscosity grade. Acceptance limits must follow the cited edition of IS 73 and the contracted COA; it is not interchangeable with a penetration grade by name alone.

Required verification: Absolute viscosity at 60°C, kinematic viscosity at 135°C, penetration, softening point, flash point, solubility and ageing-related properties required by IS 73.

Applications: High-stress, slow-moving or heavy-traffic pavements in warm conditions where VG-40 is specified.

Numerical acceptance limits and test methods must be taken from the named standard edition and approved producer/project TDS. The shipment COA must report against the contracted specification.

• Heated bulk cargo by specialised bitumen vessel or road tanker, subject to origin, route, receiving storage and terminal capability.

• New steel drums, with net weight and container loading confirmed for the nominated plant.

• Bitutainers or approved heated container systems where operationally available.

• Jumbo/polymer bags only for supply programmes and grades confirmed by the producer as suitable for solid packing and destination reheating.

Final packaging, payload, palletisation, heating and discharge requirements form part of the firm offer.

• MOQ: confirmed by packaging and route. Packed cargo may be quoted by full-container load; bulk tanker, parcel or vessel quantities depend on the loading facility, freight economics and receiving infrastructure.

• Incoterms: FOB, CFR, CIF or another agreed Incoterms 2020 rule, subject to origin and destination feasibility.

• Pricing and validity: stated only in the firm quotation after grade, specification, quantity, packaging, loading point, destination and delivery window are confirmed.

• Inspection: independent quality and/or quantity inspection by a mutually agreed inspection company where included in the contract.

• Lead time and payment: transaction-specific and subject to allocation, logistics, KYC, compliance and credit approval.

RFQ information: legal buyer name, destination, grade, governing standard and edition, complete specification/TDS, quantity, schedule, packing, Incoterm, inspection scope and delivery window.

Handling: follow the contracted TDS/SDS and producer, terminal and carrier procedures. Hot bitumen presents serious burn and fume hazards; receiving storage and heating capability must be confirmed before shipment.
